What Is CenterPoint Energy’s Recruitment Process?
To get started, you will first need to create a careers account. To create an account, go to the CenterPoint Energy career page and find the sign-in/register button at the top of the page. Once your account has been created you can save listings you are interested in, sign up for alerts, and submit applications. You are able to apply for more than one position at a time. You will receive an email once your application has been submitted letting you know that it has been received. If your application looks promising you will be contacted with more information about your next steps. For many positions, the next step is pre-hire assessment tests. You will be told when and where to take the tests. To be considered for an interview passing the tests is a requirement. If you do well on the tests, you will be invited to interview. The number of interviews you have will vary. Some of them may be done as a panel. If you seem like a good fit, you will be given a conditional job offer. Once you complete the required background checks, and possible medical testing you will receive your start date.

In addition to the EEI test, CenterPoint Energy also uses other test formats for some jobs.
These are some of the tests that CenterPoint Energy frequently uses:
EEI CAST Test – The construction and skilled trades test battery is given to linemen and other field workers. It is made up of four sections, Reading For Comprehension, Graphic Arithmetic, Mechanical Concepts, and mathematical usage. Each of the four test sections is multiple-choice, and you will be timed.
EEI TECH Test – This test is reserved for those who have applied for technical positions that require an associate degree. The test includes Graphic Problem Solving, reasoning from rules, interpreting diagrams, and mechanical concepts.
EEI SO/PD II – This test battery is for those working in power plants in system operations or power dispatch. This is another 4-part test battery. The test sections are Reading Comprehension, Analytic Thinking, Mechanical Concepts, and Multi-tasking. Every test section is multiple-choice and will be timed.
Alta Language Test – This is a language assessment designed by Alta Language services. This test is given to people who are in positions that may require them to be bilingual. You may be tested in reading and comprehending, or listening and interpreting depending on the requirements of your position.
WorkKeys Assessment – This test analyzes 3 areas. Reading for Information, Finding Information, and Applied Mathematics.
Safety – You may be tested to see how well you understand and can follow safety rules.
How to Prepare for CenterPoint Energy’s Assessments?
If you are required to take any of the EEI assessments use the test brochures provided online by CenterPoint Energy to help you. There are also practice tests you can use to get used to the test format and see which areas you need to improve upon. Use the practice tests as a tool to gauge how you have improved in weak areas.
