What Is Enmax?

What Is Enmax’s Hiring Process?

To apply for a job at Enmax, simply find the position that interests you, upload your resume and cover letter, and complete the application form. Your information can be saved so you can use it to automatically fill out applications for any other positions you may be interested in.

Due to the volume of applicants, it may take some time for you to hear back. You may only receive a call if you have been shortlisted. If you are selected to continue to the next step, you may be asked to take some assessment tests. These will be sent to you via email with instructions and the time frame in which you need to complete them.

If you perform well on the tests, or if the position you have applied for does not require testing you will be scheduled for an interview. Your first interview will be conducted over the phone. If you qualify for a second interview it may be in-person or virtual. The way your interview is conducted depends on the location of the job, and if you will be working remotely.

With luck after the interviews you will be contacted with a conditional job offer. Once you complete the background check and any required medical testing you will be given a start date, and will begin onboarding.

 

Enmax’s Psychometric Tests

If the position you have applied for requires testing, you will be notified whether through a phone call, or through email. The majority of testing can be done anywhere you have internet access. It is recommended that you use your home computer or laptop versus a mobile device for pre-employment tests.

These are a few assessment tests that are commonly used in the utility industry.

  • Cognitive Tests These tests look at general areas that people need to perform well in to predict their job success. Cognitive tests includes things like verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, and inductive reasoning. These cognitive aptitude tests are multiple-choice, and usually have a time limit.
  • Mechanical Reasoning Tests If your role involves working with or around machinery, you may be given a mechanical reasoning test. This tests your general knowledge of basic machinery, your ability to solve problems in simple systems, and your knowledge of basic physics concepts. These tests are generally multiple choice.
  • Operations Test – Engineers and technicians who will be working in plants may be given this test. It tests you in the areas of technical language, systems operations, and may include some programming questions.
  • Personality TestPersonality surveys and assessments are used to see how well your motivations and work ethic align with the company ethos. They may be formatted for you to choose the best answer from a set of choices, or select if a statement regarding a personality trait is true or false.

 

How to Prepare for Enmax’s Assessment?

Since pre-employment assessments are a common part of the hiring process in today’s job market, anticipating and preparing for testing works to your advantage. If the job you are a candidate for requires technical knowledge, like programming, or mechanical knowledge, prepare to be tested in these areas. You can use study guides from any classes you have taken, or look online for guidance.

You can prepare for cognitive testing, by working on your cognitive function. Verbal reasoning can be improved by reading and answering questions about what you have read to enhance your reading comprehension. Literature study guides designed for students are a great tool for helping with this.

Just working on basic mathematics skills by using flashcards and practicing solving word problems can strengthen your numerical reasoning skills. Abstract reasoning can be practiced using tools like sudoku, and puzzles There are also apps designed specifically to help strengthen abstract reasoning.
