The H&M hiring process begins with an online application. Job seekers can find open positions on the H&M website and apply for those that fit their skills and career goals.

The application will ask questions about your educational history and past work experience. You will also have the chance to upload a current resume and a cover letter to further explain why you would be the best candidate for the position.

Psychometric Tests

If the hiring team feels you could be a good fit for the role, you will advance to the assessment portion of the recruitment process. H&M mainly uses cut-e tests for their pre-employment exams to assess candidates’ aptitude for the position.

  • Numeracy TestThe numeracy exam will assess your mathematical ability and evaluation skills. The test will present an equation with missing numbers or operators; you must fill in the blanks to make the equation true. You will have to work quickly and efficiently during this test, as you will be given 5 minutes to answer 15 questions.
  • Inductive Logical Thinking TestInductive reasoning is essential for any position at H&M. The company will test your indictive logical thinking skills using two tests.
  • AON Scales CLS Test (cut-e)The Scales CLS test will show six tables split into two groups. These will contain letters or numbers that follow some sort of underlying rule. You will then be given four more tables with letters and numbers, and you must decide which group each table belongs to. You can expect to take 5 to 15 minutes to answer all of the questions on this exam.
  • AON Scales IX Test (cut-e)The Scales IX test will also assess your ability to find and apply underlying patterns. You will receive a row of objects following an underlying pattern with one outlier. Your job is to quickly find the one that does not follow the rule. You will have 5 minutes to answer 20 questions during this test.
  • Deductive Logical Thinking TestThe deductive logical thinking test will assess your ability to draw conclusions from the information. You will be given a 4×4 or 5×5 square filled with shapes and must figure out what shape goes in the designated square. This will be similar to sudoku in that a shape can only appear once in each row and column. You will have six minutes to complete several of these questions.
  • Situational Judgement TestThe last exam you will take is the situational judgement test (SJT). You will receive several simulated messages from co-workers and managers and need to respond appropriately. The H&M team is looking for you to display professionalism and positive behavioral traits during this test. You will have 20 minutes to complete this test.

Interviews

Candidates who do well on the various assessments will be invited to interview with the hiring team. H&M has several different interviews, and candidates should expect to participate in multiple discussions throughout the pre-employment process.

  • Phone Interview: The phone interview is typically used as a screener to ensure you are qualified for the role. The interviewer will ask about your qualifications, knowledge of the company, and why you are interested in a position at H&M.
  • One-on-One Interview: Candidates may also participate in one-on-one interviews with multiple team members. These interviews will be focused on your ability to perform the tasks required of the role and will ask behavior-based questions.
  • Group Interview: You may also participate in a group interview where several hiring team members interview several candidates simultaneously. This will assess your communication skills and your ability to perform under pressure.

H&M Common Interview Questions:

The best thing you can do to prepare for the exams is to take online practice tests. These tests will allow you to rehearse your timing and better understand what questions you will need to answer. Working through sample problems ahead of time will boost your confidence and ultimately increase your exam score.
