Psytech International Assessment Test Preparation – 2024

Aptitude Tests Preparation

Psytech International is a UK based company that offers tests on over five continents and in over twenty languages. With over five million people assessed worldwide, the company’s tests are popular pre-employment assessments for employers. They have tests that can be used for all levels of employment and offer a wide range of testing options from traditional paper and pencil testing to online testing on their platform GeneSys.

What Are Psytech Tests?

Psytech, as mentioned earlier, offers a wide variety of tests intended for all different levels and positions. The tests they offer include packages for verbal, numerical, and abstract reasoning in addition to specialized tests for mechanical roles and clerical or administration positions.

The tests are designed to measure as broad a range of skills as possible, but they are reasonable in the time that it takes to complete. Most are not above thirty minutes long, though some of the specialized exams can take up to forty-five minutes. This makes them attractive options for employers who want a strong overview of the potential employee’s skills without having to administer lengthy tests.

Taking Psytech International Tests

Since Psytech International offers a wide range of exams, the one that a specific graduate or job-seeker is asked to take will vary largely depending upon the position and job requirements. That said, the most popular exams are the Graduate Reasoning Tests 1&2 since they provide the general overview of aptitude necessary for most roles. However, there are other exams that other positions may require, so the tests are all covered below.

GRT1 and GRT2

The first two tests Psytech International makes available are the GRT tests 1 and 2. The GRT1 is for high-level staff such as those in management, accounting, analytical fields, and more. This assessment is split into three sections: verbal, numerical, and abstract reasoning. Each section may be administered separately or as a combined test with the other two sections. Both the GRT1 and GRT2 test the same basic skills in similar formats, but the GRT2 is a simpler test intended for non-graduate positions.

Both GRT tests contain a verbal, numerical, and abstract section. These sections test several things. The verbal section measures verbal fluency, vocabulary, and ability to understand and reason with words. The numerical section tests for ability to use and understand numerical concepts as well as for the ability to reason using numbers and perceive the logical relationships between them. Finally, the abstract section measures the candidate’s ability to understand abstract logic problems and to use new information without relying on prior knowledge.

These tests both allow employers to identify individuals who can:

  • Reason logically
  • Do complex math
  • Quickly understand highly abstract concepts
  • Use an extensive vocabulary
  • Understand words and word meanings
  • Effectively problem solve
  • Understand numerical issues

The tests take twenty-eight minutes apiece to complete and both of them can be taken either online, offline, or as a paper and pencil assessment. An adaptive version of the test, known as AdaptGRT, is also available. The same question styles are used on this as are found in the basic editions of the test.

ART

This psychometric assessment tests managerial and graduate candidates for fluid intelligence levels. The test is abstract and uses shapes and figures, so language bias should not be an issue on the test. The format is matrix-completion, and the test uses this to measure the applicant’s ability to adapt to and learn from novel situations or experiences. Candidates should be able to complete the test in about twenty minutes, and it is typically used as a complement for the CRTB2—Critical Reasoning Test Battery—that Psytech also offers.

CRTB2

Typically administered with the Psytech ART exam, CRTB2 is the verbal and numerical critical reasoning portion of the test. It can be completed in forty minutes, and the problems are designed to be relevant to management or business functions.

CTB2

The CTB2 measures verbal and numerical reasoning, clerical checking, and spelling. This test is one of the specialized options that Psytech offers and is intended specifically for clerical and administration roles. Unless the applicant has applied for a position in these areas, the chances of being asked to take a CTB2 are slim. The verbal and numerical abilities assessed are the same as the GRT tests.

The clerical checking section assesses the applicant’s ability to quickly and accurately check verbal and numerical data for accuracy and correctness. The assessment is a speed and precision test. The spelling test is simply intended to see whether the candidate can spell commonly misspelled words. The tests should take twenty-seven minutes to complete altogether.

TTB2

Another of Psytech’s specialized assessments, the TTB2 is administered for those going into a mechanical role. It measures mechanical and spatial reasoning as well as visual acuity. The longest test in the group, TTB2 usually takes candidates around forty-five minutes, and the tests can be administered individually or as a whole.

The Mechanical test assesses candidates’ ability to understand mechanical concepts and physical principles in operation. The Spatial section tests spatial ability with items that can assess the ability to visualize three dimensional patterns and match those objects to two dimensional patterns. Finally, the Visual section is an on-screen test that determines the candidate’s ability to work with highly detailed technical material. This usually includes wiring or circuit diagrams.

CCSI

This is the final test that Psytech offers. It assesses applicants in the form of situational judgment questions. Meant to help employers screen through applicants for the contact center field, it involves scenarios such as the following:

  • Reactions to challenging customers
  • Interactions with teammates
  • Maintenance of high performance
  • Following procedures
  • Responding to sales calls

How to Prepare for Psytech Assessment?

Psytech testing is much like other psychometric aptitude testing offered today. The tests follow a format similar to comparable exams, and they are not known for being extremely difficult. However, this does not mean that you should not take time to prepare. The tests can still be difficult for you if you are not used to the format or do not know the material. Reviewing practice materials and sample questions with answers can help you to be ready for your assessments, and you should use the time you have for preparation to its fullest advantage.

Psytech Prep Tips

  • Read all instructions given carefully.
  • Review any basic math or vocabulary concepts that you may not have used in a while.
  • Practice with time limits that are similar to the ones required of you for the real exam.
  • Do reading comprehension exercises since, particularly on the GRT tests, the answers to verbal reasoning questions may be somewhat disguised in the text.
  • Find out what format you will take the test in because there are three options.
  • Do logic exercises and puzzles, and work with abstract concepts regularly.
