ADT is an American security company headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida. It provides electronic security for business and residential customers. It utilizes smart systems, cameras, and other technology in addition to live monitoring and a call center. What Is ADT’s Hiring Process?

Get started on your hiring journey by browsing through open positions online. You can narrow your search by location and job title to streamline your search. If nothing is available, you can sign up for job alerts, and save your resume until an appropriate position opens. After you have submitted your application, you may be sent a link to complete a pre-hiring assessment test. Once all the steps are completed your application will be reviewed, and if you are short-listed, you will be contacted by a recruiter about what comes next.

Some positions require a video interview before a recruiter contacts you. During the virtual interview, you are asked pre-recorded questions. Your answer will be recorded. You may have the option to erase and re-record if you are dissatisfied with your answer.

You will initially be contacted to set up a telephone interview. This is a low-pressure screening interview. The majority of the questions involve your past work experience, and the reasons you want to work for ADT. This is also a chance for you to ask any general questions you have regarding the position.

In-person interviews may be done as a panel or one on one. The style of the interview depends on the level of the position and the department you will be working for.

Pre-Hire Assessments

As part of the hiring process, you may be required to take a pre-employment assessment. These tests can be cognitive tests, personality tests, or a combination of the two. Pre-hire testing helps narrow the field of candidates by determining which applicants have the strongest cognitive abilities, and which candidates have personalities that are compatible with the rest of the team.

  • Personality Assessment For some positions, certain personality types are a better fit than others. Personality assessments help determine your dominant traits, your work style, and your values. The test may be formatted so you rank statements from the most like you to the least like you, or it will be multiple-choice that will require you to pick a descriptive term that best describes you.
  • Situational Judgment TestThis test helps give hiring managers a better idea of your work style. This is done by having you answer questions about how you would handle problems that could occur on the job. You either need to rank the suggested solutions as least to most effective or choose the solution that is the closest to the way you would handle the situation.
  • Verbal Reasoning Test This test shows how well you can draw conclusions and make decisions based on written information. You will have several brief passages to read. Each one is followed by true/false questions or multiple-choice questions. You need to decide if there is enough information to answer correctly.
  • Numerical Reasoning Test This assessment highlights how well you can work with numbers. The test questions are word problems, and the numbers you need will be given in the form of graphs and tables. You not only need to be able to work with graphs but determine the correct mathematical function to perform, generally, you will need to perform addition, subtraction, or work with percentages or fractions.
  • Abstract Reasoning TestYou need to demonstrate logical thinking, without using words or numbers. Instead, you will be solving problems based on sets of changing shapes. Each set of shapes has a pattern that it follows. Your goal is to determine the pattern and find the missing piece of each sequence.

 

How to Prepare for the ADT’s Assessments?

You don’t need to go into assessment tests blind. Do a little work beforehand, and you will increase your chances of a better score. Reading is helpful for your vocabulary, start preparing questions ahead of time, and after reading an article online or in a magazine, answer these questions to see how well you retained the information.

Practice solving word problems so you know you can quickly identify the correct function to use. Don’t forget to practice your mental math skills so you can solve problems more quickly. This can easily be done using old-fashioned methods like flashcards. Finally, work on your general cognition and pattern recognition skills using puzzles, you can even use online puzzles as a tool. Just a small amount of preparation ahead of time can give you an edge against the competition.
