What Is Heineken’s Recruitment Process?          

To ensure effective hiring, Heineken uses SHL for its pre-employment screening process and graduate internships. Like many other large corporations, the hiring process starts with an online application form.

 

Online Application

The first step to getting a career with Heineken is to fill in an online application form with an up-to-date CV and cover letter. In both your CV and cover letter, you should include a short summary of your career to date and your motivations for wishing to join Heineken.

 

Heineken’s Aptitude Tests

If you are successful with your application screener, you will be invited to participate in three SHL aptitude tests. These are logical, verbal and numerical reasoning tests. 

  • Numerical Reasoning Assessment Numerical reasoning tests assess your capability to handle facts and figures. These aptitude tests often cover basic school-level math topics, including percentages, graphs, ratios and algebra. However, it’s important to note that the numerical reasoning test is not a test of how good your math knowledge is. Instead, it’s about how you interpret the data and apply your knowledge to the real world that matters.
  • Verbal Reasoning AssessmentRegardless of the role that you’re applying for, effective communication is key. Whether you’re writing-up briefs for marketing agencies, presenting to colleagues about the latest drink, or simply writing an email to the sales team, knowing how to communicate effectively is incredibly important. Heineken uses SHL’s verbal reasoning tests because it helps them understand how you interpret a block of text and convey ideas. The verbal reasoning test will contain a large chunk of text followed by a series of true or false questions.
  • Logical Reasoning Test This logical reasoning test focuses primarily on inductive rather than deductive reasoning. Inductive reasoning means that you can draw a conclusion from a statement or sequence. The most common type you will encounter is a series of shapes or matrices, and you will need to decide what comes next based on a set of patterns.

 

Other Psychometric Tests

 

Pre-recorded Interview

If you have passed the psychometric tests, you will be invited to take part in a pre-recorded interview. Pre-recorded interviews will open on a set date and time and will remain open for a few days. The interviewer will have already recorded questions, and you will have to record your answers to send over to the interviewer to watch at their convenience. You won’t be speaking with the interviewer in a pre-recorded interview, so you cannot take visual cues as to how you are doing. You can only feel confident with your answers by preparing them and practicing before recording and submitting your video.

 

Heineken’s Assessment Center

The final stage of Heineken’s hiring process is the assessment Center. At the full-day assessment Center, you will be present with other candidates applying for the same or similar roles. The purpose of the assessment Center is to show Heineken that you are the best fit for the company and the position.

At the assessment Center, you will meet hiring managers, give a presentation, participate in a group task and discussion and have a face-to-face interview.

  • Presentation (Case Study)Before your assessment Center, you will be given a brief, and you should prepare a PowerPoint presentation about this to break down your thought process and ideas along the way. Consider the time cap and ensure you are ready for any questions you will face afterwards. The presentation helps show Heineken how you approach tasks and deliver them to an unfamiliar audience.
  • Group Task and DiscussionThe hiring managers will put you in a group of other applicants and give you a task to work on together. Here Heineken is looking for how well you work as part of a team. The idea for this is not to stand out from the crowd. It is to show that you can collaborate with people effectively, listen to their ideas and discuss the steps you will follow in coming to a solution.
  • Face-to-face interview The final part of the assessment Center is a face-to-face interview. Your face-to-face interview gives you the perfect opportunity to prove to Heineken that you are the right candidate for the job. How you present yourself in this interview can increase your chances of landing the job role, so make sure you are prepared to discuss your CV in detail as well as answer common competency questions using the STAR method.

 

How to Prepare for Heineken’s Assessments?

While you don’t have to review for psychometric tests, it can help you to get some practice in before sitting them. Familiarizing yourself with the type of questions in the test can help you overcome any nerves you may have. In addition, you will get a feel for the time you spend on each question so that you can pace yourself accordingly. When you take practice psychometric tests, you will be given the answers at the end, and you can establish in which areas you are weakest. This will allow you to improve by seeking out more questions that you find difficult so that you can work on them under time pressure.
