Application

Hilti’s Psychometric Tests

To help short-list applicants and identify the strongest candidates, Hilti uses psychometric testing. These tests include a cognitive abilities test and a behavioral survey.  This combination of tests helps show which applicants can learn and adapt to a new position quickly, and who has a combination of traits that are linked to long-term success.

 

PI Cognitive Assessment

The Predictive Index Cognitive Assessment, previously known as the PLI, is used to show your critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It measures three sets of skills that give a complete picture of your abilities. You will be given 12 minutes to answer as many of the 50 questions on the exam as possible.

  • Abstract Reasoning This is the ability to use logic to problem solve. This is tested by having you identifying patterns in matrices and interpreting the way different shapes have been manipulated.
  • Verbal Reasoning This will show if you have strong communication skills. You will need to identify synonyms and antonyms, compare analogies, and read short passages, and determine if you have enough information to answer the follow-up questions.
  • Numerical Reasoning In these questions, your proficiency with numbers will be This behavior tested. You will need to answer word problems and work with number patterns.

 

PI Behavioral Assessment

The Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment is a personality-based survey, that helps identify your work behaviors and characteristics. Using the Big Five model, work behaviors have been reduced to 4 main factors that influence your work-place behavior.

  • Dominance
  • Extraversion
  • Patience
  • Formality

The behavioral inventory is made of two pages of adjectives. On the first page, you will need to pick the words that you feel are how people expect you to act. On the second page, you will pick the words that you feel best describe you.

 

Interviews

Your first interview will be with a member of HR to go over your qualifications and discuss any questions you might have about the position. Your next interview will be either a video interview or an in-person interview with management from your potential department. Depending on the position you are being considered for you may also have a panel interview with several more managers before a decision is made.

 

How to Prepare for Hilti’s Assessments?

To stand out from the rest of the applicants you will need to achieve the best score possible on the assessment test. You can improve your chance for success by practicing ahead of time. Practice solving math word problems and working with number sequences. If necessary, find a website that helps you practice math skills. Crosswords and logic puzzles help your critical thinking and are a good tool for reading comprehension. You can also use websites and apps designed to exercise your cognitive function as a tool to practice for the test.

The behavior assessment is simple to prepare for as long as you remember one thing. Be honest. Do not try to manipulate the survey by choosing the answers you think they want. Each role has a different personality profile, and you want to give an honest impression of who you are at work. Stay professional and answer as truthfully as you can to achieve the best result.
