What Is KIA’s Recruitment Process?
To start the application process, head to the Kia website. There, you can search for jobs in your field, and apply for internships. To access the application once you have found a position that interests you, you will need to create a profile. Through this profile you can sign up for alerts, and track the progress of your application.
If your application stands out, you will be contacted for an initial telephone interview with a human resources representative. This interview will be brief, and will focus on your experience and skill set.
Following the telephone screening, you will be emailed a link to the online assessment tests. If you do not perform well on the assessments you will not be asked to continue in the hiring process.
Competitive scores on the exams mean you will proceed to the next step. You will be asked to attend an in-person interview. These interviews will be conducted with a member of management, or department head. The interview method, and the number of people present, depends on the job you are interviewing for.
Some candidates, usually those who have applied for corporate and graduate scheme positions, will be invited to attend an assessment center. Assessment centers are a chance for the recruiting team to see prospective employees in action. An assessment center consists of several exercises and a final interview. Common assessment center exercises include:
Kia is driven to expand its vision to meet the changing needs of the consumer. This means that it is on the search for employees with drive and dedication, who will help meet this vision. To achieve this goal, applicants with Kia Motors will be asked to take a series of tests online. These tests are the first step in assuring that job-seekers are a good fit for the positions they have applied for.
Tests that are commonly used by Kia include:
Personality Profile – The personality test is designed to show an employer how well prospective employees will fit into the company, and if they are a good match for the position they applied for. It evaluates your strengths and weaknesses, and uses these to predict your potential for success. The format of personality tests can vary, and you will either need to rank statements from “least” to “most” likely or pick which statements are the most or least like you.
Situational Judgment Test – The SJT is used to give employers an idea of how well you think through situations and respond to difficult situations. You will be given a set of common job challenges and will need to pick which response from the choices given is the most likely to be effective.
Numerical Reasoning Test – Here, you will need to demonstrate your ability to work with numbers. There are variations on this test based on the level of the position you are testing for. You will be given charts with the numbers you will need to use to solve the questions. The questions can range from determining ratios or percentages, or just performing simple mathematical functions. The test is multiple-choice and has a time limit.
Verbal Reasoning Test – For many positions, you will need to show proficiency with language. This is to show you are capable of reading and following directions, and also following verbal directions. You will be given a short paragraph to read, and will then answer a series of questions about the information it contained. This test is timed and is multiple-choice.
Inductive Reasoning Test – This test is a measure of how well you recognize patterns, and interpret sequences in shapes and figures. You will need to determine the next piece in a sequence by reasoning out how the pattern of shapes is changing.
Mechanical Aptitude Test – Those going for more technical roles may need to take a skill-based test to show they have a basic understanding of machines and how they work. This test will be multiple-choice, and will focus on basic mechanical principles.
Excel Test – If you are in the running for an administrative position, you will need to show skill with common office software.
How to Prepare for KIA Motors’ Assessments?
As Kia expands its portfolio, it is in search of team members to help meet new goals and challenges. This means the hiring process will be extremely competitive. To meet the expectations of the hiring team, you will need to make an impression right away. The assessment tests are an area you will need to stand out in to be noticed.
Use resources such as online quizzes, and apps to help improve your numerical reasoning skills. Make sure you feel confident in identifying which mathematical functions need to be used to solve word problems.
Reading and doing word puzzles can help with your verbal reasoning. Find ways to quiz yourself on items you have read, so you can be assured that you really do understand what you are reading.
Abstract reasoning can be one of the most difficult portions to understand. There are apps designed specifically for improving abstract reasoning and figural reasoning skills.
Since the tests are timed, you don’t want to waste too many seconds on any one question. Get comfortable with making educated guesses on questions that you are having difficulty with.
Take the assessments in an area where you will not be distracted. Your level of concentration will affect your performance. Put your workstation in a quiet area, and take the tests at a time when you know you can give your full attention to the test.
Your best chance of succeeding is to use all the tools at your disposal to set yourself up for success.
