What Is Mazars’ Hiring Process?
Online Application
The first step of the hiring process will be the Mazars online application. This application is your chance to stand out from the other candidates and show that you can do the job. Answer all questions thoroughly and upload a recent CV and cover letter. You should tailor these documents to the specific Mazars role you are applying for and showcase the skills and experience that make you the right choice for the position.
Mazars’ Psychometric Tests
After the application process, candidates will take several online psychometric assessments. To advance in the application process, you will need to do well on these tests, so be sure that you prepare beforehand and set yourself up in a quiet environment so you can perform at your best.
Numerical Reasoning Test – The first test you will likely take is the numerical reasoning test. Since most roles at Mazars require a basic understanding of data, this exam is essential to your success as a candidate. The numerical reasoning test consists of multiple-choice questions that ask you to analyze information presented in graphs, tables, charts, and data. Please note that you will only require basic mathematics skills to complete and do well on this test. You will have twenty minutes to complete twenty questions during this exam, so please be sure you are prepared and work quickly and efficiently to complete the test in the allotted time. Mazars typically uses Kenexa as their test provider, so be sure you research their tests ahead of time.
Verbal Reasoning Test – The verbal reasoning test is another psychometric exam you will take. This test assesses your ability to comprehend written information. You will read a series of passages and then decide if a given statement is true or false based on the provided information. You will also have twenty minutes to answer these twenty questions, and Kenexa provides this exam as well.
Situational Strengths Test (SJT) – The situational strengths test will determine if your values align with the company’s values. The test will present you with a given workplace situation and will ask you to respond from a set of pre-determined options. Mazars is looking at your work attitude and ethics during this exam, so answer honestly but keep the company’s values in mind.
Interviews
If you do well on the online assessments, Mazars will invite you to the interview stage of the recruitment process. This stage will differ slightly depending on what stage of your career you are at and what role you are applying for, but most candidates can expect to have at least two interviews during this stage:
Initial Interview: The initial interview is typically a phone interview with a member of the human resources department. During this interview, they will ask you questions about your CV, past experiences, and why you want to work for Mazars. You will want to focus on your capabilities and strengths in this interview and show them why you are the best candidate for the position.
Competency Interview: The second interview will likely be an hour-long in-person interview with a hiring team member. This interview will focus more on your technical skills and if you are competent to perform the tasks required of the role. Your assessor will ask traditional interview questions and may ask you to participate in analytical exercises to test your reasoning and communication skills.
Mazars’ Assessment Day
Mazars also asks their candidates to participate in an assessment day. This day-long event brings together multiple candidates to complete various group and individual activities. Some activities that you may encounter are:
Group Exercise: In the group exercise, you will work in a small team to complete a given task. This exercise will examine your leadership and teamwork skills, so be sure to speak up during the activity but be respectful of the rest of your team.
Partner Interview: You may also need to complete a second interview with a Mazars partner. This interview will focus on your personality and culture fit to the company but be sure to review your CV and prepare examples that you can give in response to traditional interview questions.
Case Study: During the case study exercise, you will be given a case study to review and will need to respond with a written report. This activity will test your analytical, written, and communication skills. Be sure to research the organization to have some background knowledge before taking the exam.
Presentation: The assessors may ask you to give a five-minute presentation on a topic of your choice. You will have about ten minutes to prepare, so choose something you know a lot of information about and can communicate well.
In-Tray Exercise: This exercise is a simulation where you need to prioritize emails and complete several tasks that you may encounter during a typical business day. This activity will test your ability to multi-task and make decisions.
It is important to remember that your assessors will be observing you during every aspect of the event. Be sure to remain professional, courteous, and confident in every activity you participate in.
