What Is Michelin’s Hiring Process?

Online Application

To begin your recruitment process at Michelin, you’ll need to fill out an online application. This form will ask basic pre-employment questions and require you to upload a recent CV. Some positions will also require a tailored cover letter, but this step is optional for many jobs.

 

Michelin’s Assessments

Michelin is looking for candidates who fit well with its culture and are skilled at what they do. To determine which candidates are a great fit, Michelin depends on numerous exams that the applicants will take during the hiring process.

  • Aptitude BatteryThe first test candidates will take is the Aptitude Battery exam which you will need to attend a mass screening session to take it. Before the exam, candidates will observe a presentation with information on the company, benefits, and career opportunities and allows time for any questions. The Aptitude Battery exam consists of two separate tests, and calculators are not allowed for either portion. he first section is the Applied Math Skills test which assesses your ability to perform essential math functions within a 20-minute time limit. The second section is the Mechanical Comprehension test which is 30 minutes long and analyzes your understanding of mechanical concept principles. You will receive feedback after the test, and you must do well to proceed to the next step of the hiring process.
  • Multi Skill Test – The Multi skill test will assess your mechanical, electrical, and industrial math knowledge. Calculators are allowed during this assessment; however, they must be non-programmable. You will have a two-hour time limit to complete this exam, and the assessor will review your results when you have finished the test. Just like with the previous step, you must do well on this test to move forward in the recruitment process.
  • Personality TestMichelin also has candidates complete a personality test. This exam will ensure that your values align with company values and that you are an excellent cultural fit. While this test isn’t difficult, it can be lengthy. Personality tests can have anywhere from 80 to 120 questions and take up to three hours to complete.
  • Additional Assessments – In addition to the tests mentioned above, Michelin may also have their candidates complete a Bennett Mechanical Comprehension test and a Situational Judgment Test (SJT). Though not every candidate will take these assessments, it is important to prepare for them in case they are given to you.

 

Interviews

Michelin has its applicants go through a series of interviews at different stages of the hiring process. Each discussion serves a different purpose, so it is important to do well on them.

  • Initial Screening Interview – The initial screening interview will be the first interview that you encounter. These typically occur right after your application is reviewed to ensure that you are qualified for the position before moving forward in the hiring process. The assessor will ask questions about your application, CV, experience, and relevant skills. They may also give you more information about the company and its role. These initial phone interviews can take up to 40 minutes.
  • Personnel Interview – After you successfully complete the various assessments, you will receive a recommendation to schedule a face-to-face interview. The assessor in this interview will be more focused on your competency and may ask behavior-based questions. This interview typically occurs five to ten business days after completing the technical exams. Be sure you come to this interview prepared to show the hiring manager why you are the best candidate for the role. This interview will be the last time you have a chance to prove yourself during the hiring process, so give it your best!
