If you are a graduate hoping to join the Minor Hotels Ascent program, recruiting information will be posted on the website and social media pages prior to the new session beginning. For traditional hires, open positions will be listed by category. The main website has openings for individual hotels listed along with corporate office positions. If you meet the minimum qualifications, and seem like you will be a good fit, you will be contacted for a telephone interview. This will be a brief conversation to discuss your skills, and verify the information provided on your resume.

If you still seem like a good match you will be contacted for an in-person interview. For some positions there will be only one interview with a supervisor, other jobs may require two or more.

Minor Hotels’ Psychometric Tests

  • Logical Reasoning This test measures abstract problem-solving skills using a series of shapes that change according to specific patterns. You will need to identify the pattern, and find the missing piece in the sequence. You will need to work quickly, as this test is timed, and is multiple-choice.
  • Verbal Reasoning Communication, and following both written and verbal directions correctly is crucial in hospitality. The verbal reasoning test indicates how skilled you are at this. You will have a short paragraph to read, followed by multiple-choice, or true or false questions. You will be under a time constraint on this test, which will shut off automatically when time runs out.
  • Situational Judgment Test (SJT) – Your ability to handle difficult situations that may occur on the job will be tested here. You will be presented with challenges that might arise, and different solutions. You will be asked to either rank the solutions from best to worst, or to pick the one that you feel would be best.
  • Personality Survey Personality tests are used to see if your working style and personality traits are compatible with the existing team. You may need to choose words that you feel accurately describe you, or rank descriptive terms in order of how well they apply to you.
