What Is NIO’s Recruitment Process?

Find your area of interest by searching the NIO website. All currently available jobs are listed under their career area along with the location. You can either apply through the website, remembering to upload your resume or CV, or you can apply using your LinkedIn account, do not forget to link to any other career profile websites that may contain pertinent information.

If your application looks promising you will be contacted through email to schedule a telephone interview. This will be a standard screening with human resources where you will review the information on your resume.

After the screening call, your next interview may also be done by telephone. For many of the NIO positions, there are a total of three interviews, with the final interview being in-person. Your on-site interview may be done one on one or as a panel interview.

During the hiring process, there will be coding tests for software engineers, and other technical positions. There may also be online psychometric tests given to certain candidates, these tests for skills that are crucial, but difficult to determine through interviews alone.

NIO’s Online Assessments

Psychometric tests are useful in determining the problem-solving and critical thinking skills of job candidates. Personality tests are also common and are used to make sure resources are focused on candidates who will thrive in the company’s environment. Psychometric testing is not always used, but if it is you may be given tests similar to the assessments listed below:

  • Cognitive Abilities Tests These are very similar to IQ tests in format and in the abilities, they test for. Cognitive abilities assessments may be an all-in-one style test that includes questions for every ability, or they may be individual tests that test a single ability and may be given in any combination. The format will depend on the position and the abilities that are deemed most important. The cognitive abilities generally tested for include verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, mechanical reasoning and spatial reasoning or abstract reasoning. These tests are multiple-choice and have a time limit.
  • Situational Judgment Test – This assessment builds a profile indicating how you will behave as an employee. Your problem-solving and people skills will be put to the test with questions that focus on how you handle workplace conflict. You will be given scenarios that are common in your field and a list of actions you can take. You will need to either pick the response that is closest to how you would behave or rank the responses from most to least effective.
  • Personality Test The personality test, or survey, is used to build a profile of your traits and behaviors. This profile is usually compared to a template the company has of the ideal personality for the position you have applied for. Your ethics, ability to work with others, specific traits, strengths, and weaknesses, will all be evaluated.

How to Prepare for NIO’s Psychometric Tests?

If your position requires psychometric testing, you will be alerted by HR during the phone screening. You should go into the recruitment process ready for these assessments since they are such common hiring tools. You can mentally prepare yourself for pre-hire assessments by studying and giving yourself practice tests. Practice word problems, so you are confident in your ability to correctly identify the math functions you should use and solve the problem. Word puzzles and crosswords can be effective tools in practicing verbal reasoning. There are also apps that are designed to promote cognitive function, and these can be helpful since they are often timed and will help you practice working under pressure while strengthening your cognitive abilities.
