Numerical Computation Test Online Preparation – 2025

When you are on the job hunt, it is now common to be given pre-hire tests. Part of the stress of the job search is knowing which tests to be prepared for. If you know the positions you are applying for will require you to demonstrate strong arithmetic skills, you should be prepared to take a numerical computation test.
Administrative jobs, clerical workers, police officers, and accounting professionals are frequently given this assessment. Cashiers and other retail personnel are also often given a numerical computation test as part of their pre-hire assessments.
This is not a numerical reasoning test, and you will not need to puzzle out which math function to use. The numerical computation test focuses on straightforward arithmetic skills.
The questions will focus on:
- Addition
- Subtraction
- Multiplication
- Division
- Some higher-level positions may also need to see how well you can work with decimals, percentages, and other more advanced concepts.
The numerical computation test doesn’t just focus on your ability to get the correct answer. You will also be timed since the speed at which you can make calculations is important. You will not be allowed to use a calculator on this test. The tests will vary in length, but generally, you will have about 25 minutes to complete 30 multiple-choice questions.
To achieve a strong score, you will need to practice the numerical computation test. Time yourself to work on improving your speed, as well as your accuracy. You can easily prepare for free, just by working on practice problems and reviewing your multiplication tables.
When taking the test, don’t waste your time focusing on one problem. Instead, try to estimate to make your best guess and move on. Instead of skipping problems, make your best guess so you can complete as much of the test as possible.
