What Is Société Générale’s Recruitment Process?
Online Application
The first part of the online application will ask you for basic information, like your education and experience. The second part of the application has open ended questions. You can expect to answer questions like:

Describe a situation when you overcame a challenge or difficult situation.

Screening Interview
This telephone interview will be conducted by a recruiter. He/she will verify the information on your resumé/CV. You can use this interview to point out some of the highlights from your education and experience. During this interview, you can also ask any questions you may have about the company.
Société Générale’s Assessment Day
When you are called in for a day at an Assessment Center, you should be prepared to participate in the following activities:
Group Discussion – You will be part of a pool of candidates for the same type of position. The group will be presented with some background information and a task. As a group, you will work together to present possible solutions and recommendations. The assessor will be looking for you to show you can work in collaboration with others, participate in debate, and contribute productive ideas to the conversation.
Presentation – Following the discussion, your group will be asked to present your ideas to a panel. The group will need to divide up the parts of the presentation so that everyone has a chance to speak. You will need to be ready to answer questions about your group’s presentation.
Interviews – You will have another interview with a representative from HR, as well as one or more interviews with line managers in the department where you would be working. To prepare for these interviews, review your resumé and be prepared to share specific examples of your prior experiences. Also, read up on current events with Société Générale and be prepared to share your opinions and how you can contribute to the company’s initiatives.
Assessments – You may be asked to take one or more assessments related to your position, and/or general cognitive and behavioral assessments.
Online Assessments
You may be asked to take pre-employment assessments. As you take the assessment, keep in mind that Société Générale is looking for employees with strong communication skills who are able to work under pressure. Their prospective employees are also expected to demonstrate teamwork and to take initiative. Telephone Interview
At this step in the process, you will be asked technical questions specific to the position for which are applying. You may also be asked to answer questions about past experiences and how you have handled yourself during certain situations. You will probably be asked questions that show how you have demonstrated leadership and taken initiative. You may also be given hypothetical situations and ask to describe how you would respond. Some of these questions will involve how you handle conflict. It is advised to think through your responses to these types of questions before your interview. Try to use different examples than you used on your initial application. Be familiar with Société Générale and their current events as you may be asked to speak to these events during the interview as well.
Société Générale’s Screening Assessments
No matter what position you are applying for, you can plan on taking one or more general assessments in addition to possible technical assessments. These assessments are timed and are in a multiple-choice format.
Cognitive Assessment
Numerical Reasoning The numerical reasoning aptitude test will assess your ability to work with numbers. You will be asked to identify and analyze information presented in tables and graphs. Your mental computation skills may also be assessed. Practice tests will enable you to sharpen your skills and present yourself as a strong candidate.
Verbal Reasoning This test will assess your ability to work with words. You will be asked to read a passage and answer questions based on the reading. You will be asked to draw conclusions, make inferences, and identify information presented in the text. You may be asked to identify correct or incorrect grammatical usage and writing conventions. Taking practice tests will allow you to see your strengths and identify areas of further study.
Logical Reasoning This assessment will test your ability to see patterns in numbers, letters, and shapes. You will be presented with a pattern and asked to choose the answer that continues the pattern. These assessments predict your ability to be flexible and successful in the workplace. Advanced practice will help you become familiar with the format of the test and to identify correct answers more quickly.
Situational Judgement Assessment (SJT)
This assessment gives Société Générale an idea of how well you will fit into their corporate culture. You will be given different hypothetical scenarios common to the workplace. For each scenario, you will need to choose the response that most closely matches how you would respond.
