What Is SSE’s Hiring Process?
You can search for job opportunities and fill out job applications on the SSE website. If the position you want is not yet open, sign up for job alerts so you can apply when the time is right.
After you apply, you may get an email or a phone call requesting that you complete some tests online. Your test scores will be compared against the test scores of other applicants, and based on these it will be decided if you will be called for an interview.
Interviews may start either over the phone or for some positions, a video interview. Applicants for some positions like graduate programs or apprenticeships are asked to an assessment day which will end with an in-person interview. Others will go right to in-person interviews.
SSE Power Tests
Applicants for jobs at SSE will need to complete a series of psychometric tests before being considered for an interview. Psychometric tests like the Korn-Ferry Talent Q test, which is used by SSE, are tailored for different fields. These tests help predict which applicants show the greatest aptitude for job success by evaluating candidates in behavior, cognition, personality, and motivation.
Verbal Reasoning Test Questions – This is all about how well you are able to draw conclusions, make inferences from limited information, and understand written information. You will be given several passages to read, which will be followed by a few questions. You will need to answer the questions using the information you were given in the passages. The questions are multiple-choice or true/false. This is a 15-question test and you will have 16 minutes to complete it.
Numerical Reasoning Test Questions – You will need to answer questions using numerical information presented in graphs and tables. There are 12 questions and have 16 minutes to finish the multiple-choice test.
Logical Reasoning Test Questions – These questions show your abstract thinking ability by having you recognize patterns and changes in a series of matrices. There are 12 multiple-choice questions, with a 15-minute time limit.
SJT – The situational judgement test shows how capable you are of handling everyday job decisions. You will be presented with a scenario and will need to pick the best choice from the options you are given.
How to Prepare for SSE Power Assessments?
Make yourself the top candidate by preparing to ace the online assessment tests. You can start by making certain you know every aspect of the job you are applying for. Study SSE and learn about its priorities and corporate culture. This will help prepare you for the personality test and situational judgment test.
Use word games and crossword puzzles to help strengthen your verbal abilities and reading comprehension. Numerical reasoning tests often do not allow the use of calculators, so practice mental arithmetic using flashcards, or math practice sites online. You can study for logical reasoning tests in the same way. There are gamified apps that use the same thought processes of a logical reasoning test, but in a fun way so you will be improving your skills without feeling like you are studying.
