Union Pacific is a freight railroad that operates in 23 states. They have over 32,000 miles of track with 8,300 locomotives, making them the second-largest railway in the United States behind BNSF. Union Pacific Corporation maintains its headquarters in Omaha Nebraska and is the oldest Class I railroad in the United States.

Any updates will be sent by email.

If you are invited to interview you may be required to take some pre-employment assessments. These assessments may be given at a hiring event, or you may be asked to take them prior to your interview, either at your home computer or a testing center. You will receive information about when and where your test will be from human resources.

The Union Pacific interviews may be conducted during hiring events or may be done online. Be prepared to face a panel interview where you will share your related experience and may be required to answer some technical questions.

 

Union Pacific’s Psychometric Tests

If you are applying for a position in operations, there are several tests you may be asked to take to show you have the skills necessary to learn and perform the job. The tests that are given by Union Pacific are:

  • Operations Management Test Battery/ OMTB – This test is designed for operations supervisors and management. You will have 2 hours to complete this test. If you are taking it from your home computer, it must be finished in one session. There are three types of questions on the OMTB:
    1. AP Reasoning – This is a test of logic and reasoning ability. Test takers will be presented with a scenario and will need to use the information provided to answer the follow-up questions. There are 10 questions in this section.
    2. Adept – In this section, test-takers will need to choose which of two statements they agree with the most. There are 100 sets of statements, and this section takes around half an hour to complete.
    3. AP Management – This section determines the subject’s management abilities through the use of situational judgment and background questions. This portion of the test has 59 questions.
  • Train Crew Test Battery/TCTB – This assessment is given to candidates for train crew positions. This test will focus on different aspects of safety and the candidate’s knowledge and attitudes towards it. Judgment and experience play a role in this test as well as knowledge of safety procedures.

 

How to Prepare for Union Pacific’s Assessment?
